How can we help?
Most answers are below. If yours isn't, write to us at [email protected]. A real person reads every email. Please tell us your phone model and its iOS or Android version.
Getting started
How do I set a goal?
Open Dayline, give your goal a name (up to 40 characters), pick an emoji and a colour, and choose a date. Add a time if you want it to count down to a specific hour. The countdown starts right away. No account needed to start.
How do I edit, finish or let go of a goal?
Tap the goal's title on the countdown screen. You can mark it as done, edit it, or let it go.
What happens on the deadline?
Dayline asks how it went: I did it, I need more time (pick a new date, your progress carries over), or let it go (archive it and start fresh). There's no wrong answer.
Which phones are supported?
iPhone with iOS 16.4 or later, and Android 7.0 or later. Home-screen widgets on iPhone need iOS 17. There is no iPad app.
Widgets
How do I add the widget on iPhone?
Touch and hold an empty part of your home screen, tap the add (+) button, search for Dayline, choose the small or medium size and tap Add Widget. Widgets need iOS 17 or later.
How do I add the widget on Android?
Touch and hold an empty part of your home screen, tap Widgets, find Dayline, then drag the 2x2 or 4x2 widget onto your home screen. The exact steps vary a little by phone maker.
Which goal does the widget show?
The goal with the soonest deadline. It uses your app theme.
The widget looks out of date.
Your phone decides when widgets refresh, and battery saver modes can delay updates. Opening Dayline gives it fresh data. If it still looks wrong, remove the widget and add it again.
Daily nudge and notifications
How do I change the nudge time or turn it off?
Open Settings in Dayline and change the daily nudge time, or switch it off. The default is 9:00 AM.
I'm not getting notifications.
- Check that the nudge is on in Dayline's Settings.
- iPhone: Settings > Notifications > Dayline, and allow notifications. Check Focus modes too.
- Android: Settings > Apps > Dayline > Notifications, and allow them. Some phones also need Dayline removed from battery optimisation.
Notifications are scheduled on your phone. Please don't rely on Dayline as your only reminder for anything time-critical.
Can other people see my goal title?
Notifications and widgets show your goal title on your lock screen and home screen, so anyone who can see your phone can read it. Choose titles with that in mind.
Dayline Plus
What does Plus include?
As many goals as you like, five more themes (Warm, Night, Sage, Dusk and Paper), milestones to break goals down, a nudge for each goal, and your full history. You need a free Dayline account to subscribe. Plus is coming soon; pricing will be announced at launch.
Your data
Where is my data?
Signed out, on your phone and only there: the app sends nothing to us. If you sign in, your goals, steps and settings are also stored in your Dayline account so they can sync between your phones. There are no analytics, no ads and no tracking either way. Read the Privacy Policy.
Is my data backed up?
Dayline doesn't make backups. If you are signed in, your goals sync to your Dayline account and come back when you sign in on a new phone, but sync is not a backup: a goal you delete on one phone is deleted everywhere. Signed out, there is no copy on our side. Your phone's own backup (iCloud Backup or Android backup) may include Dayline's data, depending on your settings. We can't see those backups or recover goals for you.
How do I export or delete my data?
If you are signed in, open Settings in Dayline and tap Export my data for a copy, or Delete account to delete your account and everything synced to it. Deleting your account does not cancel a Plus subscription; cancel that with Apple or Google. No longer have the app? See Delete your account. To remove what is on the phone:
- iPhone: delete the Dayline app. If you used Sign in with Apple, you can also remove Dayline under Settings > your name > Sign-In & Security > Sign in with Apple.
- Android: uninstall Dayline, or go to Settings > Apps > Dayline > Storage > Clear storage.
